Fuel Your Passion for God and His Mission!

What We're About

God loves Muslim people, and so should we. He also loves world missions because through it He will redeem and gather a great Nation of worshippers to Himself. These two great passions come together in His love for Jesus Christ and His desire to bring all things under His Lordship for His glory (Rev. 7:9).  God is also holy.  And He has given His people a Holy calling to be the heralds of His glorious gospel, yes even to Muslims.

At Legacy2010 we want to fuel your passion and equip you for these and all things that God cares about.  We also want to promote a sound theological framework for making sense of Islam in the world, with solid biblical principles for interacting with lost Muslim people whom God loves.  So Legacy is about doing ministry, bu it is also about thinking biblically.

Throughout missions history God has raised up godly men and women to blaze trails for us. Samuel Zwemer (1867-1952) was such a man, a role model of the highest caliber. Known by many as the "apostle to Islam", he pioneered mission work in the Muslim world and was a prolific writer, theologian, and strategist.  He also embodied deep qualities of the inner spiritual life such as prayer, joy and love.

Zwemer's deepest passion was for God and for the "impossible" task of winning Muslims for Christ.  This conference seeks to honor, capture and communicate that same passion today!  It's our desire to exalt Christ and the works of God in the world through the "lens" of Zwemer's life and ministry to Muslims.  We also want to stimulate "pioneer thinking" among believers and mobilize students for missions and evangelism to Muslims.  Finally, we want to address the serious challenges that Islam presents to the Church today. Legacy purposes to challenge believers to engage Muslims biblically, lovingly and intelligently.

Most missions conferences provide little opportunity to interact with their focus people groups because they aren't situated in their communities. But Legacy does because it is. Dearborn has been called the Muslim "cultural capital" of America and boasts one of the largest concentrations of Arabic-speaking people in the West. Plus, it is home to the largest Arab festival on the continent. We chose these dates intentionally to coincide with the annual Arab International Festival.  Our schedule is designed to incorporate the festival right into the conference.

Following sessions on Friday and Saturday, conferees are encouraged to go to the nearby festival.  It's a stimulating way to experience Arab-American culture up close.  The festival provides real opportunities to interact with Muslim people and share your faith with them; to engage them as God's creations, and to move beyond mere stereotypes. Immerse yourself in one of America's most fascinating multi-ethnic communities that is feared but not fearful.  Jesus gave his life for Muslim people, as He did for Samaritans, and he's asking His followers to do the same.

Come and allow our Holy God to inform and transform you, deepen and enrich your spirit, shape your mind and attitudes, and give you a heart to reach Muslim people with with holy love.
